Aside from the reportedly minor car accident incident on their arrival, the rest of Super Junior’s visit to Singapore on the 29th and 30th of January was nothing short of a whooping success. With tickets for the Singapore leg of their Super Show 3 concert tour selling out within 90 minutes, what was originally a one night show was extended to include a second night show, which also sold out accordingly. 10,000 fans gathered at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on both nights to support the group, filling the stands with a sea of sapphire blue.
The 10 members of Super Junior opened the night with their renowned hit single ‘Sorry Sorry’ and proceeded to perform a total of 30 songs over a course of 3 hours. Group performances were mostly limited to dance and danceable tracks, including ‘Super Girl’, ‘Don’t Don’, ‘No Other’, ‘Rokkugo’, ‘Shake It Up’, ‘Bonamana’, ‘U’ and ‘A Man In Love’, while slower numbers were reserved to showcase solo members. Notable mentions include an impressive acoustic version of ‘One Fine Spring Day’ by Ryeowook, accompanied by Sungmin on the guitar, and Kyuhyun stunning deliverance of popular Mandarin song, ‘Endless Song’.
A highlight of the evening included guest appearances by sub-unit Super Junior M members, Henry and Zhoumi. Henry showed himself to be the prodigal child once again, demonstrating piano skills to rival his own violin talent and a strong vocal delivery of Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby’. Zhoumi performed a song and dance routine of ‘Miss Chic’ which was no less enthusiastically received by the crowd.
Perhaps the most entertaining part of the evening was the appearance of Lady Heehee – Heechul’s spot-on impersonation of Lady Gaga, complete with blond wig and red stilettos. Infamous for his flamboyancy, the Super Junior’s rendition of ‘Poker Face’ drove the crowd to laughter from sheer hilarity. Not to be outdone, further gender-bending antics were concocted by a cross-dressing Shindong, Eunhyuk, and Donghae, who took over the stage in heels, short dresses and amazing performances of Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies’ and ‘Crazy in Love’.
The boys ended the night with their early hit ‘Wonder Boy’ from their film, ‘Attack of the Pin-up Boys’.
