In a more positive note, Korean boy band Super Junior, sub-unit Super Junior-M, and its former member Hangeng scooped a handful of awards at the first Global Chinese Golden Chart awards held last April 9 in Taipei, Taiwan.Source: Manila Bulletin
A purported reunion between Super Junior and Hangeng did not happen as the boy band did not attend the ceremony, opting to thank the organizers through a video message instead.
Hangeng sued SM Entertainment in 2009 and left Super Junior to start his own solo career in China. He won the lawsuit last December when a Korean court voided his exclusive contracts with SM Entertainment.
Hangeng went to the event to perform and receive his three awards: the Most Popular Rookie award, Singapore Radio 1003’s most dedicated song for “My Logo” and Best Top 20 Song for “Say No.”
On the other hand, Super Junior won the J-pop and K-pop Album of the Year for “Bonamana” while Super Junior-M won the Most Popular Group award.
Another big winner is Taiwanese singer Jay Chou with six awards: Best Mandarin Album, Outstanding Global Chinese Music Artist, Most Popular Male Singer, Fairchild Choice, KAZN Choice and the Best Top 20 Song.
Jolin Tsai also scored big with the Most Dedicated Song on Hit FM award, Most Popular Female Singer, DJs’ Favorite Artist and Best Top 20 Song.
The first Global Chinese Golden Chart awards was organized by 11 Mandarin radio stations in China, Singapore, Taiwan, United States, Malaysia, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.

Super Junior former member Han Geng was in Hong Kong for a signing event of his concept book and first ever fans meeting. During the two events, he repeatedly told fans not to spend too much money buying gifts for him, but to give to charity. When he was little, he could not give to charity although he wanted to because he was not from a wealthy family. Therefore after debut, he always looks for opportunities to give back to society.
He expressed that he feels particularly great every time he receives pictures and receipts of his fans giving to charity. “I move up slowly from the lower stratum of society and understand how important it is to receive attention from society. Every time when I see the smiles from those who receive help, not only do I feel pleased, I also feel especially happy.” Han Geng revealed that he previously donated one half of his net worth (about RMB40,000-50,000) to charity. Although it was not a large amount, but at least he did what he could do at the time.
Get Yelled At By Parents For Buying Presents
After going solo, Han Geng needs to fly in and out of town even though he spends more time in China. He does not have much time to be with his parents. Han Geng became friends with Joey Yung (Joey) filming together. But Joey cannot attend his fans meeting due to work. He says that when he is free, Joey is not.
